Life in this area is dominated by Brutalist landmark The Barbican Estate, which is both a residential estate (home to around an impressive 4000 residents) and cultural centre, which functions as a micro city in itself. It is worth a wander for the unique architecture alone, but also for films, concerts, theatres and art exhibitions. Try remembering where you set your feet next, as it is easy to get lost in its series of walkways both on both ground level and above.
