Positioned just across the Thames from the popular South-West London neighbourhood Fulham, the leafy streets of Putney have a rumour of being one of London’s most pleasant spots for more than a century, where a guidebook from 1903 describing the area as “one of the pleasantest of the London suburbs, as well as the most accessible”. One hundred and twelve years later and Putney still remains more or less the same, although with plenty more amenities and improved connections than it boasted at the turn of the century.
